Big Sale - We're closing up shop!

We've made the decision to close up shop which means we're having a big S-A-L-E!  The sale starts this Saturday, July 22nd at 8am PST.

Thank you for supporting our corner of the internet!  We hope your pieces from Never Ready for Monday become treasured parts of your home.

Long live the weekend,

Jenna & Jodi

Everything Velvet

We have been seeing it everywhere for what seems like a lifetime, but we want more!  Maybe that's because it's our lethal combo in interior decor - cozy AND luxe?!  Yes.  Yay.  Hooray!  Give us a velvet couch, a few velvet pillows, and a chunky wool blanket to go with; and we will literally enter winter hibernation (and possibly never come out).

We've rounded up some of our favorite uses of velvet in interiors - couches, pillows, and bedding!  There is so much great velvet happening right now.  Here's what we rounded up before passing out from sheer velvet bliss.

First up, neutrals:

And then there was pink.

And mustard-y magic.

Green!  With Pantone naming 2017's color of the year a bright green, we're guessing our days of seeing green velvet everywhere are just beginning.

Blue for days.  And can we talk about those tufted ottomans?!

Last but not least, purple.  These jewel toned purples feel so glamorous but still touchable.

So many beautiful, sumptuous pieces!  If you're looking to add some velvet into your home without buying a new sofa or headboard, we've got just the fix - our handprinted velvet pillows designed and printed in Australia!  They come with a feather/down blend insert.  You can find them here.  Use code 'velvetposy' (for the Posy Pillows) and 'velvetcheck' (for the Black Check Pillows) for 25% off now through January 31st!

Wishing you a wonderful 2017!

Long live the weekend,

Jenna & Jodi

Maker Feature: Brooke

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Jodi and I live in (and run the business from) separate states.  So it was such a treat to be together with some of our family for the holiday!

We're excited about Small Business Saturday (apparently that's a thing, and it's today?!).  To kick it off, we have a new maker feature with a truly talented and kind soul!

Brooke makes beautiful things.  Her pieces are a wonderful intersection of beauty and function.  We were dying to get our hands on more of her artwork.  So we partnered up to bring in an exclusive platter and mug for the holidays!  Brooke created a custom texture in a glossy black to make our Black Mesh Platter; and our Green and Gold mugs are in our very own colorway with a yummy, crackly glaze and metallic handle.

She photographed her process for us so we could see the evolution firsthand.  We love seeing how she can take a lump of clay and turn it into something gorgeous and useful.  We hope you enjoy this maker feature as much as we did!

For the first step on the platters, we sent Brooke over an inspiration image for the texture.  She pulled some great options from which we could choose.  The far right one was the final winner!

The making of the platters:  The kneading, the rolling, the imprinting!

The wheel-throwing of the mugs.

Here the platters and mugs are going in for their firing.

The mugs are painted with the glaze before their first firing.  After the firing, Brooke paints the gold handles.  They are then fired again at a lower temperature.

Jodi and I were instantly in mad love with the final products.  Beautiful craftmanship, texture, and color (Yes, we consider black a color at NR4M ;)).  You can shop all of Brooke's work in our shop here.

Have a great rest of the holiday weekend!  Here's to hoping it goes by super slowly so we can soak in every minute!

Long live the weekend,

Obsessed: Laura Garcia Serventi's Studio

Laura's botanical paintings are pure magic.  It was love at first sight for us, and we had to have them for the shop!  She skillfully captures the beauty of the natural world and transports us to a lovely place.  She shared a few photos of her studio with us, and we just about died.  So we had to share them with you!  Take a look below for some inspiration!

We SO badly want to be a fly on a wall and watch her paintings come to life.  But we'll settle for these snapshots in the meantime.  To learn more about Laura, click here for her maker profile.

Maker Feature: Claudia

You may have noticed those cozy wool blankets up on the site this past week.  We’re excited to share more with you about the amazing woman behind those and her close knit team that make wool magic!

Claudia is the “head and hands” of Texturable, the source of all of the beautiful wool blankets on NR4M.  All of the wool is sourced in Uruguay - 90% of it comes from her family's farm.  Her aunt manages the farm with the help of her four employees - Julia, Patito, Ricardo, and Cacho.  Julia and Patito have worked for Claudia's aunt for over 30 years!

After the wool is harvested, the next step is hand spinning.  Claudia has a team of two that hand spin the wool into yarn.  Claudia then dyes the wool with non-toxic dyes.  The light colors are dyed with plant based dyes while the darker colors are dyed with ecological dyes (plant based plus additional non-toxic components).

Then she and a team of two hand weave the blankets on wooden looms.  The final product is 100% organic and ridiculously beautiful and cozy.

Claudia cares deeply about the entire process and the quality of the final product.  Her mother, who assists Claudia with the business, taught her to sew from a young age.  This love has evolved into a skilled love for fabric and textures.

In her own words:

Everything starts with textures – I see the materials and my hands start to move, thoughts in my head create shapes and combine techniques. I always try to preserve the nature of the materials I use and respect their qualities. Due to the outdoor location of my dyeing area, I have to dye my designs when the weather is good. When it’s sunny I know it’s a dyeing day, and when it rains, it’s time for creativity.

All of my items are made with a lot of love, care, and dedication. I strongly believe that everything in this world has an energy, and the things we make take on the energy of their creators. Because of that, I work with happiness and enjoy every step of the process. Each of my designs is full of energy and meaning – I think that’s why the result is beautiful. When I make my products I try to transmit my surroundings — nature, calmness and simplicity. I wait until each product absorbs the warmth of the sun and the freshness of the sea to send it to its final user.

Texturable blankets are beautiful heirlooms.  Claudia still owns and uses blankets that belonged to her great grandmothers.  These are blankets to live with and to share with those you love!
